Why Belgian Beers

“But what makes Belgian beer so special is that even an amateur beer enthusiast can pick a Belgian beer out from any other. Whether it’s a pale ale, a dubbel, a fruit beer or a golden ale, Belgian beers taste unique, and that’s down to one thing: yeast. Belgian yeast comes in lots of forms, but it all has a floral, sweet kind of edge to it that’s completely in contrast to the crisp, bitter stuff used in most beers. In fact, as beer becomes more and more of an art around the world, people are realizing that the yeast is just as important as any other ingredient in the beer. When it eats the sugars from the barley, it leaves more than alcohol behind – along with carbon dioxide it leaves more chemicals which can taste and smell delicious or, sometimes, just awful. More and more I see beer aficionados arguing about the best strains, the fruity “esters”, funky “phenols” coming off them, and their uses in different styles.” - JamieOliver.com

HOW TO MAKE BEER WITH OUR KITS

You will find all the details (water temperature, time, etc...)
in the guide provided in our kits.

STEP 1
GET STARTED

In addition to the Brewferm® Buckriders equipment kit. you will need a small kettle. a can opener. a weighing scale and bowl or a mug for the sugar. a measuring jug for the water and a stirring spoon.

STEP 2
CLEANING

Ensure that all equipment you use is absolutely clean and sanitized. If you are not using the Buckriders Cleaning agent. use an un-perfumed cleaning agent like our Buckrider Cleaning Agent.

STEP 3
PREPARATION

Using a can opener. open the can and place it in a small cooking pot filled with warm water for about 15 minutes. Pour the contents of the can into your clean fermentation bucket.  Easy, right?

STEP 4
FERMENTATION

Leave the bucket to ferment for 7-1O days at room temperature (18-23°C / 66-73°F), not dropping below 66°F. It is tempting, but do not open the lid regularly. It can cause an infection in your beer.

STEP 5
BOTTLING

When your young beer is ready for bottling, move the fermentation bucket to a worktable and mount the cleaned and sanitized syphoning tube to the tap. Leave the bucket to rest for 1 hour so the sediment can settle.

STEP 6
MATURATION

After ten days, move the beer to a cooler spot to ripen for 6 to 8 weeks. We recommend that you try your Brew after 3 weeks, but remember that your beer will need more time to mature and improve: Patience pays!

STEP 7
ENJOY

Time to bottle your beer & enjoy with friends and family! If you come up with any interesting recipes, please share them with us at cheers@brewferm.com
